ESFA TESCO UNDER 11 SEVENS FINALS

 Orchard Junior School U11 Girls and Sarisbury Primary School U11 Boys travelled to Watford FC Training ground to represent the S-W Area in the ESFA Tesco National Finals. Both teams had already won their local area competition, the Hampshire County competition, as well as the County winners from the South-West of England. 

Orchard Girls played extremely well in their group games, winning the first two 2 -1 and 1-0 but tireda little in the third losing 1-0.  However they had done enough  to ensure their top of the group and progressed in to the semi finals.  here they met a bigger, stronger team and on a smaller pitch found it difficult to play their football and went out 2-0.

The Sarisbury Boys played some good football on the smaller pitches and although creating several excellent chances were not able to cash in, losing all 3 games. Although the boys will be disappointed with their finishing, they can be proud of reaching the National Finals and on another day could have done so much better.

The postponed game v Oxfordshire has been pencilled in for Tuesday, 22nd May to avoid the clash with the Hughes County Cup Final betwen Andover and Portsmouth at Andover New Sytreet on Thursday.  The match will still be played at Winklebury.

HAMPSHIRE SCHOOLS U14s v Dorset at Sturminster Newton on Tuesday, 8th May ended in a 1-1 draw.  Hampshire took the lead with less than 10 minutes to go. Both teams played header tennis in the Dorset 6 yard box and when it rebounded from the cross bar May was on hand to head it home.  In the closing minute or so, Hampshire gave away 2 free kicks in their own half and Dorset put the free kick just wide of the keeper Aaaron Bunday and with the help of the far post found the net.  Hampshire need to overcome Oxfordshir on Thursday, at Winklebury, to take the Area F Championship.
